Abstract

Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a respiratory pathogen causing seasonal outbreaks, particularly affecting infants, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals. With no vaccine or specific antiviral treatment available, prevention relies on hygiene measures, early detection, and supportive care. Increasing global prevalence underscores the need for enhanced surveillance, rapid diagnostics, and investment in vaccine development.
